The journal MedNous published a report about the Medtech & Pharma Platform Association 2021 Annual Conference (MPP2021), which took place in a virtual setting on 21 October 2021. Entitled ‘Meeting report: Healthcare’, the article extensively covers the panel discussion, moderated by the MPP President, Shayesteh Fürst-Ladani, with speakers from the European Commission, EMA, the US FDA, the UK MHRA, BSI/Team-NB and the University of Bonn.
Panelists presented complementary perspectives and engaged with the audience on the future framework for combined products. They underlined the existing challenges linked to the coexistence of several regulatory frameworks as well as the increasing use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the development of combined products. The panelists stressed the necessity to setup an agile framework, responsive to technology and product developments, whilst fostering international regulatory convergence.
