Today, the MPP Annual Conference, themed “Combined products of tomorrow – developing solutions for and with patients”, is taking place at the Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland. Shayesteh Fürst-Ladani, MPP President, and Mike Wallenstein (Novartis), Chair of the 2024 Annual Conference Program Committee, will open the conference and present the program.
A panel discussion will provide forward-looking perspectives on national and regional regulatory strategies, current challenges, and recent developments in relation to the regulation of combined products with James Bertram, Director of the Office of Combination Products at the US FDA, Virginia Rojo, Head of the Procedures Office at the EMA, Karolyne Mathys, Head of Medical Devices Surveillance at Swissmedic, Françoise Schlemmer, Director at Team Notified Body (Team-NB), Theresa Jeary, Global Head, Medicinal & Biologics Team at BSI, and Ruth Foster, Director Regulatory Affairs Medical Device & Digital Health EMEA region at MSD and member of the MPP’s Board of Director.
Three expert sessions will explore and discuss the latest developments in the areas of connected combined products and digital health, the combined use of in vitro Diagnostics (IVDs) and Companion Diagnostics (CDx) and medicinal products, and patients’ inclusion and perspectives on the lifecycle of combined products. The sessions will feature speakers from patient groups, EU National Competent Authorities, Notified Bodies, Academia and the industry.
Shayesteh Fürst-Ladani said that “for over a decade, the MPP annual conference has provided a forum for cross-sectoral exchanges and I am very pleased to see experts from the pharma, medtech, IVD and tech sectors gather on this occasion”.
